we are what we eat and food is medicine
past, present or future
it is part of me
was and will be
Food fills my memory. It's
not the pleasure of consuming, it's the hapiness of sharing.
Mum expected me to be a good cook
at 6-8, after school, I went to the open-market, bought ingredients and prepared meal
Mum is especially entailed when it come to cooking
but grand-dad always encouraged me to be creative
The joy ..
of being together
I remember, he used to try my food and suggest improvement, he tried everything, literature everything I cooked
He made me believe,
when I control the rules, I can break the rules
My cooking is influenced by grands
I remember how creative grand-mum was: her bizzare shape earthen stove, her clothes and food
The pleasure
of serving
She is not a good cook as grand-dad but he always enjoy her new dishes
Grand-dad grown-up in Hanoi with his cousin in a middle-class family. He used to quote how food was prepared
He became an army nurse and travelled North to South
He can always give me alternalty ways of preraring and cooking with references where it came from
at the age of 22, I started to believe there is no standard but popularity , regionary
I know, I need to learn more, so much much more
Taste more, cook more, travel more
and share more ...
